Inspired by the Northwest Coast, this beautiful formline design was created by Tlingit Master Artist Israel Shotridge.
The Eagle & Bear are two of the most important beings in Native art and mythology. The Eagle is respected for its intelligence and power, as well as its extraordinary vision, in both the literal and figurative senses. A most prestigious animal crest, the Bear is one of the most prevalent figures in totemic art as well as myths. It is a symbol of power and strength among the Native people of the Northwest Coast. This design represents and honors the "Teikweidee" (Bear) Clan in Southeast Alaska to whom the Artist is a member.
